16 Nov 2011:
Greetings!
I would like to extend a great big "thank you" on behalf of my unit and myself. The care packages that you sent us were amazing. I ensured that they were handed out to the Soldier's and anyone needing anything received something! You have touched my heart and the hearts of many Soldiers. I can tell that it truly makes their days much more pleasant. The support we have from you is invaluable and we thank you for sending them.
As the Holiday season nears, so does the anticipation and realization we will be apart from our families and friends. I ask you, if possible, to keep us in your thoughts and prayers during this time. As this will be mine and many other's first, second, and even third time being away from our families during the Holidays. Fortunately, shortly after the Holiday season, we will begin our return back stateside (February). There is always light in every dark situation. If you have the means and availability to send us any Holiday care packages, I will ensure that they reach my Soldier's. Here is a few items that have been asked from me time and time again from many Soldiers…
Coffee!!! Hot Chocolate, Apple Cider, Zip Fizz, Emergen C's, drink mixes, Liquid body washes, toothbrushes, toothpastes, dental floss, Mens and womens deodorant, shampoo and conditioners, razors, greeting cards(all varieties), oatmeal, pop tarts, gum, CANDY, sunflower seeds, granola bars, baked goods :, rice krispy treats (VERY POPULAR), Girl scout cookies, socks, underwear, laundry detergent, dryer sheets, stationary, batteries… etc.
Also, I am trying to coordinate with my unit a donation drive to give to a local orphanage or school here in Kuwait. If you would like to partake in sending specific goods for this cause, please let me know. As I will send you back more information on exactly what items are needed and where we are donating them too. I believe this may be a great way to involve our Soldiers, Families, and Supporters such as yourself, to get into the Holiday Spirit! What do you think?
Again, thank you for your continued support through care packages, prayers, letters, and cards. Our return home cannot come soon enough. The moment we return and have boots on American soil, will definitely be a good day! With your assistance though, our days are much more enjoyable. Thank You and have a Blessed Holiday Season!
Warmly,
Specialist Kerry Lynch
